Ian Patterson is known in the industry
for his work in developing the skills of managers
and leaders. He runs courses for the CII's Personal
Finance Society (PFS) as well as running bespoke
courses for many other firms on an in-house basis.
The FSA requires firms to be able
to demonstrate their staff are competent. For
supervisors, the spotlight is on coaching and
assessment skills.
This error DVD is based on a two-stage
advice process: the fact find and a subsequent
recommendation meeting. For each stage, the DVD
shows the investment advisor and client in two
different scenarios. Each scene lasts up to 25
minutes so there is nearly 2 hours of material.
It is designed to be used with supervisors
to help demonstrate their ability to assess accurately
using an observation form. It may also be used
with advisers as part of an induction programme
to demonstrate some aspect of the advice process,
e.g. explaining commission fees to a client.

"I am not exagrating to say that this is one of the
most constructive two day workshops I have attended in my
career.
From my past experience, I felt the course covered the major
issues we face as supervisors..."
Supervisor

"We have found the professionalism of the trainers and
assessors excellent. They are proactive and most importantly,
they have credibilty with my sales force, which is not always
true with some organisation."
